Can you buy alcohol in the duty free shop for consumption in your cabin?

We cruised with NCL (never again)and emailed ahead to ask if a bottle of spirits could be left in our cabin.After a lot of messing about they put us on to the Head waiter who did arrange this for us,we had to pay up front and it was expensive.
We also managed to "smuggle" a bottle on board.
It's the rip off prices for bottled water that gets me!

Choose P & O next time, they don't mind you taking alcohol on board for consumption in your cabin.

I have in the past brought onboard wine spirits from the huge supermarket at Palma port its realy , its just your luck if they stop you, as they did in Gibralta and kept it until the last night.

take some in your case then just stock up at each port alot of guest do this its true any booze you buy on ship gets cabin no and name on it and put in hold till night before you come home

No, any alcohol bought would go into the hold until 2nd / final night before you leave the ship. You could enquire about buying a bottle of wine from the shop to drink in you cabin.
