We had an excellent time aboard the Island Star. This was our first cruise and was a treat for our 25th wedding. As soon as we arrived we were treated like royalty. Lovely welcome aboard party and sail away was magical.
Our favourite restaurant was Island on deck 7 a wee bit more upmarket than the beachcomber although we enjoyed eating in there too, nice iced water all day and as much tea and coffee you desired. Food was lovely although it could be a wee bit more warmer.
All staff were excellent, from your cabin, barstaff and restaurant always wishing you good morning and always a cheery smile.
We were on diamond deck outside cabin, this was ideal for the week, nice clean beds and towels and was roomy enough for the both of us, we only showered and slept in it after all.
We did the trip to Rome and the Vatican which was excellent, our two guides knew their stuff and looked after us very well, very warm though so a hat is a good investment, and remember to cover your shoulders for the vatican both men and women.
Entertainment was very good there was always something going on, and it was your choice if you wanted to join in or not, we did and the comedians were funny and the showas were fab too.
We met lots of nice people who were just like ourselves, friendly down to earth working class people which was just what we wanted.
A big thankyou to all the staff including captain John Clark who was only on his second week in charge, we thought you were fab like you staff.
Take care all of you and we will see you all again that's for sure.
