My wife and I returned yesterday 12/8/08 from a weeks cruise on Island Escape - Mediterranean Isles. This was our first cruise and we were a little apprehensive having read some reviews, this however was soon allayed.
GENERAL:-
The pick up at Palma by the shore reps was very smooth and we were on board in no time at all, we found the registration process at the terminal very quick. Once on board we were shown to our cabin which was an inside on coral deck, this was small but adequate for 2 people and a little larger than we expected. We found the whole Cruising experience very enjoyable, it was a pleasure to be on this ship. We have already booked for July 09.
STAFF:-
No member of the crew passed you by without speaking, a testament to Captain Lockwood and his officers for running such a friendly ship, with an atmosphere second to none. A special mention to ROMEO our cabin steward who was very good and created things with towels you wouldn`t believe.
FOOD and DRINK
The food was plentiful and a good choice was offered we chose to eat mostly in the Beachcomber Restaurant, we did have one meal in the Oasis Restaurant, where our waiter AGUS was very attentive and informative. Drinks prices similar to those at home.
EXCURSIONS:-
Didnt do anything organised as we preferred to do our own thing.
ENTERTAINMENT:-
Onboard entertainment was excellent a special mention to the resident artists in the Sundowner Bar- Dara, singer/pianist, Andy, guitarist/vocalist and Starlight, a duo who always provided a good night in the bar. The resident band Surprise were also very good. The guest Artists in the Ocean Theatre and the ships own Showteam were excellent, all shows were very enjoyable.
Finally:-
There was certainly no time to get bored, ther was always something going on to keep you occupied. The Island Chat an onboard leaflet which was left in your cabin detailing the next days activities was very informative as was the information leaflet on the next port of call.
